Our MISSION is simple. We partner with women oppressed by psychological abuse, and assist them toward a life of dignity and independence by providing support and financial assistance.
Our VISION is to change LIVES by helping women become free from abuse and oppression. We believe we can make a difference in a person's life through a sustained intervention strategy consisting of resources, training, and the loving support of a champion by their side. In turn, the survivors can use their life experiences to help make a difference in the lives of others.
We were founded based on the relationship between two ordinary women in middle-class America. My Friend Mayvis Foundation, Inc., was created to fill the gaps that were experienced in the efforts to empower a dear woman, named Sylvia*, who had no voice and no hope for a better life for herself and her children. Everywhere they turned for help, they were denied assistance because "no crime had been committed". You see, Sylvia had not been physically abused. This situation was the inspiration for My Friend Mavyis Foundation, Inc., to help women like Sylvia escape a life of oppression.
We work to raise awareness and help people affected by our cause. Our success is measured in the number of people we can help with the quality of programs and services we provide. These programs are fueled by our dedicated staff, caring volunteers and generous donors like you.
